Whitney has been a student and teacher of yoga and the healing arts for the last 20 years. She has deep experience in yoga and Ayurveda, with more recently adding Hakomi somatic therapy to her practice. Whitney began practicing yoga as a teen with a senior Iyengar yoga teacher in New Jersey while in high school. She did her first yoga teacher training in 2007 at a traditional India ashram where she learned Sivananda Yoga, chanting, and meditation. She then went on to work and teach at Kripalu Center for yoga and health in Massachusetts. There she was exposed to many styles of modern yoga including Anusara yoga, which she immersed herself in. Upon moving to Washington, DC in 2012 she practiced with Micheal Joel Hall and learned one-to-one in a mentorship model for 8 years. Throughout this time Whitney has taken several trips to India to immerse in the culture and philosophy from which this practice has come from. Whitney now lives, works and teaches in Alabama with her partner Mark and son Entheo. Whitney is very grateful and honored to get to share yoga philosophy and practice with the ministers and members of the Congregation for Sacred Practices.
